At the 23rd BellaTOFIFEST International Film Festival, the Golden Angel for Artistic Insolence will be presented to a bold, outspoken and uncompromising artist who possesses a remarkable ability to capture the mood of his audience and translate it into art. This year’s recipient is Kazik Staszewski, who will meet festival audiences on Friday, July 4, at 6:00 PM at CKK Jordanki. Admission to the event is free.

Kazik Staszewski is the voice of generations and a chronicler of everyday life. An Artist with a capital “A.” An institution in his own right. His music has accompanied us for decades. Some of us grew up with his songs — I count myself among them — while others are only now discovering how deeply his work resonates. It’s hard to sum up in just a few words all he has done for Polish culture. For years, his presence has extended beyond the music scene, with his compositions often shaping the atmosphere of major Polish films such as "Sztos," "25 lat niewinności," and "Czarny Czwartek," says Kafka Jaworska, Director of the BellaTOFIFEST International Film Festival.

Kazimierz "Kazik" Staszewski is a versatile artist — singer, songwriter, and composer. Born on March 12, 1963, in Warsaw, he has been active since 1982 as a member of Kult, a band he co-founded with Piotr Wieteska. Both critics and fans have long appreciated his solo work, which began in the 1990s. Over the years, he has collaborated with many acclaimed artists, including Wojciech Waglewski, Leszek Możdżer, Edyta Bartosiewicz, and Katarzyna Nosowska. His music has been featured in numerous films, such as Olaf Lubaszenko’s "Sztos" (1997), Ryszard Bugajski’s "Closed Circuit" (2013), Wojciech Smarzowski’s "Kler" (2018), and Jan Holoubek’s "25 lat niewinności" (2020). In 2019, the documentary "Kult. Film," directed by Olga Bieniek, premiered, offering a portrait of his legendary band. Kazik has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Fryderyk Award for Best Songwriter (1994) and the "Polityka’s" Passport in the Rock-Pop-Stage category (1998), for which he was also nominated in 1993, 1997, and 2001.

The artist will receive the Award for Artistic Insolence during the festival’s Closing Ceremony.
